Sanskrit Language Tools provides a condensed, abbreviated form of the most essential topics of Sanskrit grammar as covered in George Hart’s A Rapid Sanskrit Method, augmented with material from William Dwight Whitney’s Sanskrit Grammar. The main subjects covered—listed in the menu bar above—are:

  • Nouns (all major declensions including pronouns, participles, along with a description of noun cases),
  • Verbs (the conjugations of the 10 classes, standard verb ending, participles, secondary forms, the future, perfect and aorist systems, as well as verbal prefixes),
  • Other topics (Sandhi, compounds, absolutes, adverbs, and links to other resources).

Most of the information was summarized from Hart’s short, concise book, but some is from Whitney, Monier-Williams, and elsewhere. I am the sole contributor to this site.

I’m sure there are mistake, omissions, and typos, for which I bear full responsibility. I correct and amend the information contain herein when I can. I continue to use this site for my own references (along with many of the sites listed in Other Resources), and if it proves to be useful to anyone else, then so much the better.
